Some tap shoes are designed purely around rhythm. The So Danca TA57 2-Inch Heel Tap Dance Shoes bring rhythm together with the elegant line and unmistakable character of a classic stage shoe.
Available in Black and Tan, the TA57 is a beautiful choice for musical theatre, cabaret and performance tap. Its secure ankle strap and softly cushioned interior help dancers feel supported, while the higher tapered heel gives choreography a more theatrical presence.
So Danca TA57 2-Inch Heel Tap Shoes – Personality
Two-Inch Heel • Classic Court Shape • Black or Tan • Broadway Character
The Broadway Rhythm
Elegant, theatrical and made to be seen, the TA57 has the polished court-shoe silhouette traditionally associated with musical theatre and cabaret. Black feels dramatic and timeless beneath darker costumes, while Tan creates a softer continuation of the leg and works naturally with warmer performance palettes.
So Danca TA57 Tap Shoes – Design & Performance
The TA57 is shaped with a durable vegan synthetic upper and a softly rounded closed toe. An adjustable ankle strap fastens with a traditional buckle, while a small elastic insert allows the strap to respond more naturally as the foot moves.
Its 2-inch tapered heel places the dancer’s weight slightly farther forward than a low-heel tap shoe. This creates the poised stage line associated with Broadway and character work, while allowing experienced dancers to move confidently between dance steps, acting and theatrical choreography.
Underfoot, a full genuine leather sole supports smooth movement across suitable studio and stage flooring. A rubber forefoot pad adds practical grip behind the toe tap, while built-in resonating soundboards beneath the toe and heel help create a fuller, more projected response.
Factory-attached screw-on taps allow the dancer to produce clear toe and heel sounds from the first wear. The cushioned lining softens the structured shape, making the TA57 suitable for rehearsals as well as performance.

Dance World Notes
When Tap Takes on a Theatrical Line
Why It Works: The TA57 combines the elegant shape of a traditional character shoe with the sole and sound construction required for tap. This makes it particularly useful when choreography moves between rhythmic footwork, travelling steps and theatrical performance.
Sound Character: The full leather sole and built-in soundboards give the TA57 a fuller and more projected response than a lightweight beginner tap shoe, without the heavy build of a professional double-sole Oxford.
The Heel Difference: A 2-inch heel places more of the dancer’s weight towards the forefoot than a flat or low-heel tap shoe. This can help create a poised Broadway line, but dancers changing from low heels should allow time to adjust their balance and sound placement.
Performance Value: The secure ankle strap helps keep the shoe connected to the foot during travelling choreography and quick directional changes, while the classic court shape works naturally with dresses, character skirts and tailored stage costumes.
Dance World Tip: Rehearse in the TA57 before wearing it on stage, particularly if you normally tap in a low heel. Practise the complete routine in the shoes and costume so that your balance, stride and weight placement feel familiar before performance day.
